Every parent on the planet knows that toys can prove to be a nightmare when it comes to organizing. Toys clutter every room, pose as trip hazards, and can do some serious damage when you step on them. Thankfully, this isn’t something you have to just deal with. Organizing your children’s toys may seem like an impossible task, but it is actually much more straightforward than you might think and can be completed in less than a day. To help you through this, here are five steps for you to follow.

Define The Play Areas

The first thing that you need to do is decide where in your home your children are allowed to play with their toys. After all, it’s going to be difficult to get them organized if they’re strewn all over the house. If you have a large home, you might want to dedicate an entire room for your kid’s toys, but if you don’t, then you might want to restrict them to bedrooms, part of the living room, and part of the garden. If you keep the toys to one space, they’ll be easier to tidy up later.

Reduce The Number Of Toys

To make your life a lot easier, you need to get all of your kid’s toys together and get rid of any that are broken, or they don’t really play with, such as duplicates. You can throw away anything that’s broken, and sell or donate the ones that are in good condition. Your children don’t need buckets of toys, especially if they don’t play with them all, so try to limit the number of toys you have in your home.

Split Them Into Categories

Once you’ve got rid of the toys your children don’t need, you should split what’s left into categories: Dolls, cars, outdoor toys, scooters, etc. This way you can store related toys together, rather than sticking everything in one huge box. The outdoor toys could be stored in a shed or playhouse, rather than inside. If you don’t have one of these, then you might want to look at Kids Ride Wild and compare a few. This will hugely reduce clutter in your home.

Set A Few Rules

After spending all of this time getting your children’s toys organized, it makes sense that you would want them to stay this way. To ensure that this happens, you’re going to need to set a few rules regarding the toys. This could include where your kids are allowed to play, how many toys they’re allowed out at once, and what types of toys they’re allowed to play with a when. This should prevent your kids from getting too much out at once, and make cleaning up easier.

No one likes stepping on Legos, or any toy, in fact, but this is going to happen unless your children’s toys are organized. Hopefully, the tips above will help you to do just that, so that you can save your feet from any further pain and yourself from any extra stress.  If you’re looking for more organizational tips, check out How to Organize Your Life in the New Year.
