Have you heard of Kickstarter? If not, let me introduce you to a great way to see new cutting edge products and entrepreneurial spirits. Kickstarter inspires me and I love seeing fresh creations. The mission behind Kickstarter is simple: Creators pour their blood, sweat and tears into a project that they are passionate about. Then, they have the duration of their campaign to have their product financially backed by the readers and people who believe in their product.

One project I recently feel in love with and can’t get enough of is from Good for Kids.

The mom of two behind Good For Kids is Dessi. She is a self-proclaimed healthy eating enthusiast and recently decided to venture into children’s products that can help educate on healthy living. Specifically, she designed a toy and book that are aimed to convince kids that all fruits and vegetables are yummy and fun to eat. Using her background from Brown University and Harvard Business School, as well as her love for her children, she is inspired to help families make informed choices.

This project just launched on May 8th and will go through June 24th.

Although she has many more ideas in the think tank, her current endeavors focus on The World’s First Healthy Eating Doll and the Healthy Foods Are Fun to Eat picture book. Each of these products are centered around encouraging children to eat more fruits and veggies.

The World’s First Healthy Eating Doll – an adorable magnetic doll that loves to “eat” her fruits and veggies and smartly avoids sugary treats (through the use of hidden, embedded magnets). As a mom of three, I know how hands-on and accessible toys can encourage healthy habits. My daughter would love this doll and I would love the teachable moments that it could provide my three-year old with.

The accompany children’s picture book Healthy Foods Are Fun to Eat features happy rhymes and amazing food art from over 10 talented artists from around the world. Additionally, there is one SUPER large copy of the book which will travel to libraries, schools and children’s museums. Fun fact: This is now the largest healthy eating book in the world!
