I missed a week of work for a tongue blister??

(Post from 2014)

In the on-going battle of working mom vs. stay at home mom, my time with a sick child always leaves me in the negative on my employee leave balance form.

Paying for an entire week of unused daycare, while at the same time NOT getting paid for the week of work I’m missing seems to NOT work out in my favor.  And my minis seem to be sick.  ALWAYS.

I’ve stayed home to snuggle through high fevers, rub backs through tummy aches, give breathing treatments to respiratory disasters.   Just when I think I’ve seen it all, something new pops up.  This week – what started out as a tiny tongue blister turned into 5 days of unpaid work, a week’s tuition donated to daycare without a single second of care given, and a whole bucket of tears (from my hurting child AND me!).

Just when I think I can’t possibly run across an illness or virus that one of my children hasn’t yet tested the water in, we here an awful word by the name of stomatitis.

According to my quick Google search, Stomatitis is fairly common and doesn’t sound too bad. In the case of my sensory driven 4 year old….. It’s bad. We couldn’t actually see any sores in his mouth, other than a bright red abnormal color. But if a drip of saliva so much as came into contact with any part of the inside of his mouth – WATCH OUT. Extreme  pain.

Seriously parents, I hope you never get to experience this with your littles!  YUCK!
